Mindful of mind-emptying

All over the place I am seeing and hearing about “mindfulness” – on TV, on You Tube, and in adult colouring books. I even heard it from a guest that was invited to speak at our church men’s breakfast.

I remember this from Buddhist, Zen, yoga, I-Ching, Tao Te Ching, and Tai Chi teachings, and before that from transcendental meditation and the Hindu Sri Ramana Marhashi (not to be confused with Maharishi Marhesh). I did all of these before I was a Christian, some for over 20 years of study and physical practice. I also majored in Psychology. So I hope you will be able to accept that I know a fair bit about these areas.

I want to warn Christians that the drive to inculcate a culture of “mindfulness” is a distraction to occupy people’s minds with time-wasting mindless “pastimes” and to soften you up for acceptance of non-biblical teachings about spirituality.

As with all such things like the cult of death skulls we saw take off everywhere following Damian Hurst’s jewelled skull sculpture, the evil is hidden in plain sight.

Take a look at this photo I took today of some “mindfulness” adult colouring books. Do you see Ganesh the Hindu elephant god? Do you see the word “Zen”? – a form of Buddhism. The other pattern is called a Mandala – Wikipedia says: Mandala (Sanskrit: मण्डल, lit, circle) is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Indian religions, representing the universe. In common use, mandala has become a generic term for any diagram, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically; a microcosm of the universe.

This is not Art (but it is artful in the sneaky sense of that word). It is time-wasting. It is a soporific repetitive hypnotic activity designed to put you into a state where the things the designs depict can work their way into your brain, softening you up for non-Christian religious influences. Robbing you of your time, taking you away from truly creative activity – like perhaps trying to draw you own pictures rather than mindlessly colouring in someone else’s.

The chances are that if you are reading this, you are NOT a child. Do not be a “kidult.” If you are not an athlete you do not need to dress in trainers and a track-suit like a child in a romper suit. You should not be spending your time colouring in like child. Look and act like the adult you are, stop being led into mindless time-wasting immaturity, backwards to childhood. Don’t be hypnotised and distracted by pagan satanic works. Instead grow up and grow – open your eyes and see – look where you are going – look at what you are doing – think about what is being presented to you – make discerning adult reasoned choices. Have a go at doing your own drawings maybe. It’s harder than colouring in. It needs effort to improve and grow in ability. It’s not a cop-out, the easy downward wide path. So much of what is wrong and of Satan is the easy way out, the cop-out, fake and ersatz life. The pretend marriages of unnatural life choices that are easier than doing the harder thing and learning to relate to someone different rather than someone the same, the false hopes of gambling, the temporary escapisms of alcohol and drugs. Do not be led by the world but be led by Jesus Christ. Yes, I know you can say you must be come as children, but also I will remind you that you must put away childish things!

1 Corinthians 13:11

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. (KJV)
